Thomas M. O'Toole Ph.D. -
Consultant Thomas O'Toole, PhD brings a focus on the theory and practice of effective advocacy, persuasion, and interpersonal communication, specifically within the trial setting. His experience and education has informed his ability to help clients assess how particular communicative strategies inform the ways in which people and juries cognitively structure and interpret information.
O'Toole comes to Tsongas from the University of Kansas where he worked as an intern for the Advocacy Research Institute, a Midwest trial consulting firm, where he gained extensive experience conducting analyses of mock jury deliberations as an aid to the development of case strategy in both civil and criminal contexts.
His interest in trial advocacy stems from a rich history of success in intercollegiate debate as a member of some of the nation's top debate programs. Honored as a former All-American, his resume includes two national championships. As an educator and coach of intercollegiate debate, his teams were ranked among the top in the nation.
O'Toole taught argumentation, debate, and public speaking at the university level for over five years. He has a Ph.D. in Legal Communication from the University of Kansas. He is a member of the American Society of Trial Consultants.
